SAVA is a privately held, majority-owned subsidiary of Qivliq, a NANA company. NANA was formed as part of the 1971 Alaska Native Land Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). NANA is 100 percent owned by the Inupiat people of Northwest Alaska.

As a result of ANCSA, a pool of Alaska-owned and -controlled investment capital was created, which subsequently has been reinvested to support and enrich the lives of NANA’s approximately 12,000 Inupiat shareholders in northwest Alaska. Our shareholders maintain cultural ties to the region their ancestors have inhabited for more than 10,000 years.

Our profits are returned to our community to:

  • Maximize economic growth via regional development and annual dividend distribution
  • Protect and enhance vital resources
  • Promote healthy communities
  • Support Inupiat culture and values
  • Improve education via scholarships and internships
  • Provide vocational training and business leadership

The net in the "V" of SAVA represents the Native Alaskan way of protecting their precious possessions in secured enclosures. Similarly, we work diligently to safeguard and serve our nation’s most critical information and technological advantages.
